Walkathon Kick-Off Celebration

Southeastern Guide Dogs hosted a walkathon kick-off celebration for volunteers and visiting Puppy Raisers Area Coordinators who were in town for their annual meeting with the Southeastern Guide Dogs Puppy Services Dept.

The walk is scheduled for Saturday March 3, 2012 at Vinoy Park in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. Registration opens at 8:30 am, opening ceremonies begin at 9:45 am, the 3K walk kicks-off at 10:00 am, and the event wrap-up is 1:00 pm. There will be food, music, raffles, a silent auction, blindfolded walks with trained dogs, dog massages, and pet friendly vendors. All well behaved dogs on a short leash are welcome. This is the major fundraiser for Southeastern Guide Dogs, a non-profit organization founded in 1982 that matches visually impaired individuals with impeccably trained guide dogs, providing a priceless, independent lifestyle. SEGD breeds, raises, and trains their dogs at the Palmetto, Florida campus. All services are provided at no cost to the students.

Here are a few pictures of the kick-off event:
